Hey guys! Most of you are probably sleeping, i should too. So i won't post the pictures and videos yet! I'll prolly upload it somewhere else easier, hahaha, i got 168 photos/videos! That amounts to  1.85GB. Haha that is way over the blogger LIFETIME limit ): but we sure had fun yeah? And for posterity,

I apologise for looking like a retard when everyone else juts looks so prim and proper when zoom into their faces. I seem to be as stiff as the first iteration of the Iron Man suit.

Bye goodnight and with much love!

"Pray Or Be Prey." - Sunny!

Alright I don't know if the above quote was a Sunny Original, or if he got it from somewhere, but who cares!

Anyway, Mel Lee here to just refresh everyone's mind on what our one and only SHUJING shared about during Wednesday prayer [21/01/2009]! And those of us who weren't able to make it, pay extra special attention alright, this is good stuff =)

[From now on, italics are Shujing's notes and bold words are Bible verses!]

Shujing pointed out the difference in praying and talking to God. For example, When I am talking to you, I don't ever say that I am praying to you. Even when we call upon the name of the Lord, there is a difference between "oh my God" and "ohhhh God" kind of cries. "Oh my God" is using the Lord's name in vain, but when we come for Wednesday prayer, open our mouths and mumble a few words, isn't it the same as calling upon God in vain, because you're not really intending to do that?

2 Timothy 3:5 -- having a form of godliness but denying its power.

From this verse, we can see that at the root of godliness is power. Therefore, "power" is the "essence".
THEREFORE, what separates a loose "oh my God" and a pure cry of "ohhh God" is the power behind the words, the essence behind the form.

Shujing went on to explain the story of Abraham and Abimelech in Genesis 20, the chapter where Abraham said of Sarah, "She is my sister" and Abimelech took her from Abraham, but eventually returned her because God told him that Sarah was Abraham's wife.

When you pray, you have the power to engage miracles...

1) Because you open up the heavens over your life.
- God told Abimelech to ask Abraham to pray. Therefore, being able to talk to God is not enough to engage in the essence of prayer.
- Verses 17-18 Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, his wife and his slave girls so they could have children again"
- Opening of wombs // Opening up of heavens over Abimelech's household
- When you have the power of prayer, when you have God on your side, you have the ability to change events or circumstances that might be outside your control
- Essence of a prayer lies in the persistence and passion of our prayer; Essence of a prayer lies in the person praying

2) Because you receive a portion of heaven into your heart and declare it into existence on earth.
- Abraham was a PROPHET by the nature that he received a portion of heaven (Galatians 3:8 -- announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you.")
- Abraham declared it by going out into the promised land even before he had Isaac

God works through people who have received a portion of heaven into their hearts and declare it into existence through prayer.

THE END!

No GoP service this Saturday, but see you birdies on Sunday for main service, and Tuesday for CNY visiting!

The motivational post.

HELLO all you schooling people :D

Okay here's something to motivate all of you to be happy to learn (stuffs)

As we all know, the english language is one of the most important subjects riiight? Yeah so I was having one of my 'thinking my thoughts' thing. Yeah. I was wondering, why was the english language so complicated?

Happy is the same as elated, and joyful, and go to thesaurus.com. Why do we need so many words for one expression?

What's the point? THEN THEN THEN, this thought came to my mind. Imagine worshipping God, then all we're saying " God you are nice, You are so nice, Your niceness fills my mind."

That. Would. Be. So.

Boring. Right? And the word NICE, is not even enough to describe the greatness, wonderfulness, and how magnificent He is! He is so much more than NICE riiight?

YES SO LET'S BE FULL OF THANKSGIVING AND GRATEFULNESS, for the beautiful and complicated English Language that we have to learn and understand. And decipher.

Yes so I hope that ENGLISH LESSONS would be something you guys would look forward to. I LOVE ENGLISH. Speak good english yeah!

Let's learn it well to glorify God's name, literally, and also in our English Examination results eh?

:{D ( moustache grin HAHAHAHAHAHA)

Much Love,

Cell Reunion

Wheeee we have leftover yu sheng thing from cell dinner yesterday, and so in view of that, we're going to have a cell chinese new year visitation to the different homes! :) Haha.

Oki kidding... we're really going to have cell chinese new year visitation, but not cos we have leftover yu sheng (although we really do and some of you guys still owe me $4 for dinner, yu sheng included haha). :)

Your Promise, My Home... so we're really going house visitation! :)

This year is interesting cos everyone's working on chu san, so cell house visitation will probably be 2nd day of chinese new year if majority of you guys are free, or the next possible date would be the sunday of the weekend of the chinese new year week. :) Haha. 2nd day sounds better lah. :) It'll be a free and easy thng in a sense that you can join whenever and leave whatever time you want (we can even pick you up from your house). Haha. :) If you can't come out for house vistation, we'll visit your house! :) Wheee....

So...
1) Let me know if you're free for house visitation on 2nd day
2) Let me know if your house is available
3) Let me know if you can't come out of your house but we can go there

Connectors get the answers from your connectees k! :)

Btw... chinese new year is a pretty fun time and cell reunion is uber fun, ask all the "irregulars" if they wanna come along and get more ang bao k. Haha. :)

FUEL

FUEL was amazing, yes? :) Haha... it's one whole entire booklet worth of notes! :) Encourage you to get it from your friends if you weren't actually there... highly recommended! :) Friday FUEL session was amazing too... prayed and the different pastors actually shared about confession, consecration, then commission! :) Get ready for the harvest in your schools... we always say revival is coming... but you know when everyone starts to realise they need to get on their knees and pray, you know that's when revival is REALLY starting. :) Don't miss out on the wave... you wanna look back next time and encourage your own kids that "hey, i was one of those who prayed for that revival to happen... and you should do that for your own school friends too!"

It was such a privilege too to have Ps Jaime Montera preach for our sunday service... it was incredible... DO YOU KNOW GOD? :) Think about it more... how do you actually know that you know God, and how do you actually know you love God? :) And more than that, how does God know that you love Him? :)

MEL IS IMPRESSED BY AVELENE.

HEY GUYS! Yes this is Mel Lee here, MY FIRST POST on our cell blog!

Okay first of all, I would just like to say that I am genuinely deeply impressed by Avelene's "cell" observation. Yes, people have likened a cell's functional processes to that of actual cells, but never have I seen such an in-depth comparison! And our dear Avelene at the tender age of fifteen. Really proud to call you my cell member, Ave. =)

Secondly, I really think this is what Christianity and the church, OUR church is all about. There are so many similarities between the outside world and the church, there are so many overlaps in the fabric. But it really takes a revelation from the Holy Spirit to see these overlaps and similarities, and to put it in such a coherent manner for everyone to relate to. How great is our God!

Thirdly, KEEP OUR CELL BLOG ALIVE, PEOPLE! Post random stuff, tell a funny story, it just might make someone's day.

FOR EXAMPLE. I shall proceed to tell a joke.

Q: Which mammal has the least hair?

A: THE BEAR!

Ha! Ha! Ha! Get it?!?

This is Mel, signing off. =)

our Cell-like cell

hey guys! Avelene here ! i had a super uber cool 'revelation' during bio class today ! today my teacher was teaching us about how proteins are made in a cell and she drew a real huge picture of a cell with all the parts and stuff and i was like 'WOW! that looks like our cell !' (as in kezzie cell ? not cell cell ? ah whatever, you get the drift)

so i shall not be a bimbo today and educate you bimbos about the cell ! (don't worry as long as you understand what im talking about by the end of the post you shall be stripped off your temporary position of a bimbo :D )

so anyways my bimbo-istic impression of a cell

minus the huge smiley mouth.

and my current impression of the cell which is wayyyy cooler and definitely un-bimbotic

wow! now you all must be like "huh? but we dont look like that weirdo sunny-side up, neither does shujing look like a black dot! "
but im here to tell you that shujing is that black dot a.k.a the nucleolus and more! shes not only a black dot, shes the 'brain' and most important part which contains all the genetic information (our cell people seem to take after her because of that haha) and she controls everything that happens in the cell
the oval-shaped looking things called mitochondria are our cell leaders , lizzie and kelly , they power-up our cell and sustain us by providing our cell with energy (: they put in much of their time sweat and blood (owch) just to take care of our cell !
now you might be asking " you talk about the big shots in the cell but never talk about us...." so now here you are!
if i remember correctly, the DNA in the nucleolus makes copies of itself and these copies are called mRNA (the messengers) they are the thingys that spread the messages the nucleolus wants to send out , they can be likened to the connectors (proj. d people)
so now theres this tRNA thing which if im not wrong are the thingys which transfer proteins to ribosomes (the tiny speckles aka. cell members!) these tRNA are the people who deliver the word of God (aka preachers) the word of God here is represented by proteins. When proteins enter the cell , the tRNA will hook themselves with proteins and transfer it to the ribosomes , the ribosomes will enter the Rough endoplasmic recticulum (the weirdo shaped thingy which is covered in ribosomes) which will send it to the golgi apparatus (our leaders eg, shujing , lizzie and kelly or even the connectors ), the golgi apparatus 'packages and modifies' the ribosomes with proteins , this can be likened to our leaders correcting our misconceptions of the word of God.
The Golgi apparatus then sends the packaged ribosome out of the cell to provide the body with proteins and this is how we are sent out into our circle of influence to spread the word of God !!!! WOW! i hope you guys understand cuz im not a teacher i can't really explain it very well. If you guys are like huh ? over something you can approach me ! questions are always welcome (:
hope this 'wows' you too (: Take care, God bless,
love,
ave

Knowing God. :)

The song says "the God i know"... and i know my God through my bible. :) Of course, not just knowing the logos Word, but the Rhema Word for my life. Not just the general word of God, but the revelations that will change my life. Not just tracing where God has been, but finding out where God is and where He is leading. :)

So today's passage is simple... Was reading Genesis 25 and was like, whaaaa Abraham's seriously fruitful ah... olddd and had a wife (at the age of 100+ and still attracted men...) and concubines. Haha! Well, but it's all after God called him out. :) Ohohohoh now here our attention gets shifted from Abraham to Isaac... Any questions any one? :) Haha... i should go explore in detail how and why was it that since birth, Esau and Jacob were fighting.

Matthew 8 is pretty exciting... there are a few stories contained inside... simple to understand but can all be explored in detail. :)

Haha... oki i gotta admit this about my own bible reading to you all: Remember i said before 4 chapters a day to me is super simple? I wanted to do the super in depth study... but i honestly haven't started it yet... (well partially cos i couldn't get myself to wake up early enough every day... needa make that more consistent haha) But yesyes, public declaration so that u guys can help check on me... make me start on my in depth one verse kinda study k. :)

Benjamin

Okay I am not exactly so sure why i titled this post after my beautiful name...but anyway...

Hmm i am not tired yet (yes there is school tmrw till 5.30pm) so I was hopping around the internet, and i came across 2 links:

http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_323050.html

This one is quite sad....you guys remember the blaze in the Bangkok Pub? Well, this guy's mum sent him an sms...he did not reply...and the mother well, found why he did not reply...because he had died in the fire...quite sad right?

It sets me thinking...how many times do we actually reply our parents? for my own, I do not always answer their calls/smses (hey sometimes my phone doesn't work okay) but deep down...I know that's a terribly lame reason...

And sometimes, we might dismiss their naggings when we come back home and are questioned as to why we didn't reply them as typical nonsense, but it is at this time when i am totally lonely with the cold wind blowing at me and some gang below is making noise that my sensory neurons are really teeming with electricity as i come to grasp with the reality of our parent's mindsets...

I think that they are really worried if we fail to reply them, especially if we come home late. Heh. So from now on, I will reply them so fast I can qualify to be Singtel's fastest smser (though i'm on starhub).

And now i am going to talk about the tree of life thingy which some people didn't get...

Well. I was following the bible reading plan, and then something interesting struck me on my soft little head.

God did not tell us that we could not eat from the Tree of Life!

Therefore, we can see that we could have had eternal life! But no....we ate from the tree of good and evil instead....

When God said that we could not eat from the tree of life, we can see that what was more important to him was that we should

Reman innocent and pure rather than to live forever!

What does this imply? Actually I also not sure...maybe it means that God wouldn't mind if we lived forever without sinning, but after sin entered our world we would have to die! Thus we got kicked out from the garden!

And therefore I see now why Jesus came to die for us...so that we would not "die" forever! Instead we would be resurrected.

Hmm i just got my own little revelation here. I hope you guys will understand this, hahahaha....

and here are some pictures from the saturday spree with my lovely camera

i was so honoured i got to go to spc with the 2 cell leaders...woah power arh faint arh...jkjkjkjk! :D

so cute angeline. hahaha

i let them pose for this :D
it would be nice if rotated it...
hehehehe sec1...so cute :D
hahahahahahhaha so cute

odd right...suppposed to be from big to small...hahaha
the 2nd pic out of 879 of me in my camera. actually suppposed to be lizzie and me...then angeline and faithe come in...and this naughty avelene extraing being there ah....i am so gonna deep fry her...
okay that's it...i took a lot more but all were rather un-glam so yes yes yes i am such a nice person
(sherlynn i uploaded a pic of you but deleted it...i saved you)
okay that's it la if i am gonna wake up at 530 gotta sleep...nights and love you all cell haha

Sonship

Posting bits and pieces of Shaunster's sermon on Saturday... refresh your memory, cos i love the message and it is so impactful. :)

Proverbs 3:1-10. :) A Straight Path speaks about success; it speaks about influence and direction; vision and purpose; Confidence and Speed and Strength... it speaks about being a Champion.

Psalm 127,
“Unless the LORD builds the house,
 They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the LORD guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.”"
But the way God builds is through people, and in particular, a MATURE SON. Referring to hebrews 3:1-6. :) The bible calls Moses a servant, but God called Jesus a Son, and only Jesus could build the house... so God can only build through mature Sons!

1. A SON HAS THE GENETIC CODE OF THE HOUSE
2. A SON SERVES THE VISION OF THE HOUSE
3. A SON SHARES PRIDE IN THEIR HOUSE
4. SONS BECOMES FATHERS

Will post exact sermon notes when i have the time... :)

TMR IS SERVICE!
yay everyone lets get excited and expectant
i rmb in one sermon we've heard the preacher said that our thoughts set the atmosphere and i thought that was really cool
like if everyone came into service with their mind so concentrated on nothing else but JESUS the atmosphere would just be electrifying.

O LEVEL RESULTS ARE GOING TO BE RELEASED ON MONDAY
scream.
hmm i dont think im that scared. kind of. okay im a bit scared. actually now since im thinking more about it i feel terrified. to all the o levellers' lets just stand by Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declared the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
haha everytime after i read that verse i do not feel terrified anymore

God is good, all the time and all the time, God is good!

Form and Essence

(disclaimer: shujing can't remember exactly the whole thing in exact sentences cos she was playing the piano... so some information might be incomplete or not true in its whole entirety)

Our key verse for this session is 2 Tim 3:5, "having a form of godliness but denying its power"
- the essence of godliness is power.

Form, in the dictionary, is also known as "Fashion". Fashion changes with time and seasons and influences. Essence, on the other hand, is the "to be" not just the "to do". It's a lasting vision and passion; the sensation you get in your bones when you feel like giving up but you know you can carry on. :)

When we come for Wednesday prayer, we want to develop the power, and the essence of prayer is really simply touching God. :)

Dr Cho, the pastor of the biggest church in the world, spends 6 hours in prayer every day (recently he considered his own standards to have fallen when he spent 3hours on his knees praying, and another 3 hours standing), and his church has an overnight prayer meeting every friday. He said the church can be built so big, through prayer that leads to a consistent revival. Revival might not have to be the big kind conference and thousands get saved, but when you decide to pluck up your courage and talk to your friend about Jesus, that's already a revival. When you decide to be a good testimony at home, that's a revival. :) And that's also the power, looking beyond the form of things. :)

When we pray long and loud, it can be just a form of religious duty, or it can truly be a form that is an expression of essence of prayer - communication with God that consists of passionate and persistent prayer that moves the heart of God. :)

Let's pray more... so that we go beyond the form of religious duty of that 15min per day, to really coming to know God and seek Him and go into that essence of the power of prayer. Communicate with God! :)

7th Jan Bible Reading

Today's bible reading comes from... Genesis 10-12 and Matthew 4! :)

Well as usual had lots of thoughts... but just in advance of tomorrow's old testament reading (i decided to move ahead with the story first), just looked at Gen 13-17, "After Lot separated from him, God said to Abram, "Open you eyes, look around. Look north, south, east and west. Everything you see, the whole land spread out before you, I will give to you and your children forever. I'll make your descendants like dust - counting your descendants will be as impossible as counting the dust of the earth. So - on your feet, get moving! Walk through the country, its length and breadth; i'm giving it all to you." This reminded me of something someone shared with me before - Abraham was kinda already in the promised land (canaan), but this piece of land was still a piece of land. It was only after that in Genesis 15:13-16, that the second part of the promise was released; it was only after the forth generation returns, that the promised land became the promised land. Interesting thought - hold it, we'd explore it more as we go along, but any preliminary thoughts? :)

Think i shared this with you guys too - pointing the way, and when that purpose is done, he leaves for the Messiah to come onto the scene fully. John was supposed to have been put into prison around 60 days after he actually baptised Jesus. Jesus took 40 days in the desert, so if you do your math, yeps should be around that timing. V12, "Now when Jesus heard that John had been put into prison, He departed to Galilee."John's ministry had influence in Judea, Jerusalem and until Jordan. Jesus's ministry had influence in Judea, Jerusalem, and beyond Jordan. :) Hey but there's so much more to this passageeee... :) Roar! :) I will probably come back to this passage again tomorrow! :)

Anyway... woohoo it's prayer today, so will probably post a prayer post later. :)

Enjoy bible reading... it's more than essential. :)

faithe: actually not really...
me: wah first time sia you!
(cuz usually faithe freaks out before tests esp. chinese)

then after that aunty aye lan prayed for the peace of God to be with us throughout the test and it was really awesome because i wasn't even worried , scared or anything because i knew that God was definitely on our side! and when God is for us who can be against us? not even liu bei or caocao (characters from san guo yan yi) YIPEEEE!

ohoh and one interesting thing was, i did QT in the bus hahah, like i prayed in tongues SOFTLY! and discreetly lols and it was really cool cuz it felt very nice and spritually uplifting hahah ! i realised doing QT when i'm tired makes me not tired anymore!

About Bibles

Okay hello Kezzie! Haha. Yay i am so happy to be posting, :D so i shall tell something interesting that happened today

After school, I went to this christian store in Juction 8 called Trumpet Praise. Haha. Then i stood there for exactly 92mins, (sorry i just had to measure the time) and I mulled over which bible to buy. I wanted a new bible, probably that which was based on that of The Message translation.

I saw Shujing's bible there! Haha. It was really pretty (: but guess what. I didn't buy it! Yes, I instead bought another bible. The translation of it is The Message too! Haha. It has some really cool stuff, like for instance, information about each book in the Bible (such as the author, history) and such! And now i shall show 2 verses that really jumps out at me from The Message:

Gen 2:16 GOD commanded the Man, "You can eat from any tree in the garden,
Gen 2:17 except from the Tree-of-Knowledge-of-Good-and-Evil. Don't eat from it. The moment you eat from that tree, you're dead.

I really like the fact that it is super direct! If we compare those verses from another version, such as the NJKV (a favourite)

Gen 2:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

Hmm, so the message is super direct. Haha. If you're looking for a version that is like, super easy to grasp, The Message is up your alley! Haha. Otherwise maybe go for other versions, my personal favourite is the Amplified bible, it really rocks! Here is an example from the amplified:

Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and blessing and
calamity you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely
die.

Notice that there is some extra information added here, namely the two words "blessing and calamity". This tells us that the tree of good and evil also was the tree of blessing and calamity.

We can see that reading different versions of the bible can lead us to different revelations. haha. This was my revelation today: The tree of knowledge of good and evil was also a tree of knowledge of blessing and calamity!

Yay! Haha. I think that was interesting, :D i mean, honestly i didn't know about the good and evil being blessing and calamity as well, hahaha,

Cya guys!

Maturity :)

  • Maturity here is not about chronological age, intelligence, biblical knowledge, giftedness or influence; rather maturity here is when the body of Christ reflects the character of Christ.
  • A Greek man who was properly described as TELOS would NOT necessarily be flawless, but he would be grown up, one who has attained the “ends” of the maturation process; walking, talking, potty-trained, able to accept responsibility, hold down a job, balance his checkbook etc.
  • In Christian context, may mean no more ‘playing’ or expecting to be entertained but deciding to put their doctrine into practice, take responsibility for their knowledge, pull their own load in the work of the Church.

Heb 5:12  For indeed because of the time, you ought to be teachers, you have need that one teach you again what are the first principles of the oracles of God. And you have become in need of milk, and not of solid food.

This was the Maturity bits from Pastor Mark's sharing on sunday... we'd be talking about these things more in detail, but preliminarily, what does it mean to have christ-likeness, and which top 3 attributes of Christ do you want to see built up in your life? :) Fooddddd for thought. :) Yummy. :)

6th Jan Bible Reading

Haha.... i love reading the bible. :) Really dont quite think i can ever live out my life to the fullest without it... i mean, life's always ok, but the Word of God (and prayer and worship and giving and other things) complete my life to make it whole so that i'm living my life to the fullest extent. :) Every day i just wanna let the Word of God be in me and transform me...

I dunno about you, but i'm sick of the times when i say "i love God", but i have no idea what that actually constitutes. When i say "God is good", i want to know what i mean by that. I don't desire to have an airy fairy christianity just repeating and saying and doing what others are doing... i want a real relationship with God, a real alive relationship so that when i sing "the God i know", i truly know who He is. :)

That was just a bunch of honest ramblings... and really, at this point of time in my christian walk, i'm still looking at the bible and thinking, "wow". How bout you? :) What makes you read the Word of God? :)

Anyways... today's bible reading has been interesting. (It always is... haha!) :)

Genesis chapters 7-9, tells of Noah during the flood and after it. Hmmm... what's your idea of the flood? :) I remember Shaunster sharing this before - Noah's ark can be likened to Jesus. :) Nice idea, here's my elaboration on it (better say mine, cos i cant totally remember 100% what he say about it)... Well Jesus saves everything in Him, everything outside Him perishes. :) But God's provision of that salvation is just amazing... :) Thoughts thoughts? :) This can be daybreak scratching the surface first lesson (Fall of man and salvation...) but taken to a deeper level. :)

Of course, when i reached Matthew 3 i smiled widely. :) John the Baptist. :) Haha... remember one of our focus this year is really to be the prophetic voice... to prepare for the way of Jesus and to usher the revival in this year. To point the way to Jesus for others, by being an example in our living and proclamations to them. To say "change your life, God's Kingdom is here!". Hah oki enough about this... i can really talk about it a lot, but probably the long elaboration would come in the chapter that records John the Baptist's death. :) Today my thoughts were more about water baptism... wheee... oki i remember hearing a sermon about that before... well, i have one whole entire day to try to catch that sermon about water baptism... i'll take down notes and then come comment back here k! :)

-- Your happy overseer cos God is good (Psalm 84:1-2, "What a beautiful home, God of the Angel Armies! I've always longed to live in a place like this, always dreamed of a room in your house, where i could sing for joy to God-alive!")

Sumthink bout our bible reading plan

Woohoo it's Day 2 of us starting on our brand new bible reading plan...

Watched this sermon just now about reading the word of God, thought it was quite cool... it's a series in 3 weeks, but think the 3rd week will do if you're hard on time. http://www.lifechurch.tv/message-archive/watch/TXT/3/low-res :) Go load the link, similar to youtube, and watch it after u load it. :)

Anyway there are other messages on the webby, just browse through, see what's there, listen to those that you think would be useful for you, be impacted, be transformed, and have the Word of God imprinted in your life. :)

Press on and persevere! :)

- Your kind and nice and wonderful overseer, Shujing.
